Laser surgery:ULTRALASIK

ULTRALASIK optimizes all available technologies used in the process of a laser surgery. It is the combination of a cut by a state-of-the-art laser and a personalised laser treatment.

ULTRALASIK surgery is a solution to correct myopia, hypermetropia and astigmatism.

What is Laser Vision Correction with ULTRALASIK?

PHAKIC lens

Ultra LASIK eye surgery is not indicated for some patients with significant vision problems (for nearsightedness greater than -10.00D and farsightedness greater than +6.00D). In such cases, a phakic lens could be implanted.

The phakic lens, which has been used in Europe since 1990 and in Canada since 2000, has proven to be both safe and effective. Most patients receiving this surgery experience an improvement in vision quality.

Seeing as this surgery does not directly involve the crystalline lens, near vision is not affected and there is no increased risk of retinal detachment. Laser enhancements and correction of astigmatism are included.

LaserBLENDED VISION

Through the Laser Blended Vision process invented by Carl Zeiss Meditec, the IRIS Clinique d’Ophtalmologie IRIS offers you a glasses-free autonomy, for farsightedness and nearsightedness, even after the age of 40.

Presbytia treatment – What is the procedure?

Crystalline lens
replacement with an INTRAOCULAR LENS

If the ophthalmologist and optometrist notice a contraindication to laser surgery, they will suggest a solution which might suit your personality and lifestyle; the replacement of your crystalline lens with a multifocal or intraocular lens (IOL). This procedure can be considered when your crystalline lens has significantly lost its ability to accomodate.

What is Laser Vision Correction with an intraocular lens?

Choosing your procedure

ULTRALASIK surgery is the most common laser treatment, and the recovery period is the shortest. A flap is lifted up on the surface of the eye and the laser reshapes the underlying layer of the cornea.

Ultra LASIK eye surgery is not indicated for some patients with significant vision problems (for nearsightedness greater than -10.00D and farsightedness greater than +6.00D). In such cases, a phakic lens could be implanted.

PRK surgery is a laser treatment on the corneal surface, and it can be an alternative if LASIK surgery is contraindicated.

Above procedures are available at the IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic. Your ophthalmologist and optometrist will inform you about the different options. The surgeon will guide you toward the most suitable procedure for your needs.
