The IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic of Laval opened its doors in 1998. Since its opening, ophthalmologist Dr. Martin Boileau has played an active role in the clinic’s success. Ophthalmologists Dr. Francis Roy and Dr. Jean Mayer joined the team in 2017.
Every year, our surgeons participate in various international conferences on the research and development of refractive surgery. They are passionate about integrating state-of-the-art techniques and equipment into their practice to provide you high-quality health care in accordance with high standards of comfort and safety.
Our ophthalmologists, assisted by a team of qualified optometrists, opticians, and nurses, are committed to personally answering all of your questions. They are responsible for determining if you meet the safety criteria for surgery and advise you on the choice best suited to your needs and lifestyle.
Dr. Boileau’s accomplishments, both personal and professional, clearly illustrate the values that drive him, namely hard work and determination.
Dr. Boileau earned his doctorate in medicine degree at Université de Montréal in 1991 and his post-graduate degree in ophthalmology in 1996 with further training on oculoplasty and tear ducts at McGill University
His passion for mountaineering has taken him around the world and to the top of Mount Everest on May 19, 2004.
Dr. Mayer practised general ophthalmology in the Lanaudière region for several years. In the fall of 2017, he decided to withdraw from public practise and the hospital setting to exclusively focus on his two passions: surgery and travel! IRIS Mundial made this possible for him by melding purpose with pleasure when he accompanied them on a recent mission to Peru as a volunteer. During this 5-day mission, Dr. Mayer and his ophthalmologist colleagues made it possible for some thirty patients to benefit from cataract or pterygiun surgery. This is how they have contributed to “improving the world’s vision!”
A surgeon at the IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic and founder of the ChirurgiVision clinic in Trois-Rivières, Dr. Roy is a pioneer in refractive surgery.
He practises refractive surgery, specifically LASIK and PRK, intraocular lens implantation to correct vision problems such as myopia, hypertropia, astigmatism and presbyopia, as well as cataract surgery.
Since he started practising, he has consistently focused on the satisfaction, safety and well-being of his clientele. Passionate about vintages, he has a wine cellar that would make the SAQ pale with envy.
