Dr. Elizabeth Fortin is the medical director of the IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic. She offers vision correction services through corneal laser surgery. As well as clear lens replacement and cataract surgery, with specialty lenses and advanced technologies. She also offers general ophthalmology services, more specifically, neuro-ophthalmology.
Dr. Fortin is originally from Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean. After completing her residency in ophthalmology at the University of Sherbrooke, she pursued a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. She completed the Program in Clinical Effectiveness at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health.
Before joining the IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic full-time, she practiced in the general ophthalmology and neuro-ophthalmology departments at Mass Eye and Ear in Boston. She was also a teacher at Harvard Medical School. She participated in various scientific committees (AEGEAN Neuro-Ophthalmology Meeting, Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology, North American Neuro-Ophthalmology). She has been an invited speaker at several conferences in North America, Europe and Asia.
Her vocation for teaching continued in Quebec, getting involved in the training of students at the School of Optometry of the University of Montreal.
