• Before laser corneal surgery, you will not need to use medicated eye drops before the procedure, unless specifically recommended by the ophthalmologist.

• Before intraocular surgery, it is recommended to start using medicated eye drops 48 hours before the procedure, if time allows. In all cases, if you are already using drops to treat another eye condition, you must continue using them before the procedure.

• It is recommended to use artificial tears to lubricate your eyes about 2 to 4 times a day before the procedure.

• Unless there is a specific medical condition, you will not need to stop taking your usual medications before surgery.

To optimize the outcome, you will need to completely stop wearing your contact lenses at least 48 hours before surgery. The ophthalmologist may ask you to extend this period if deemed necessary. Failure to follow this recommendation could result in your surgery being postponed to a later date.

• It is recommended to take a shower or bath the evening before and/or the morning of your surgery, making sure to wash your hair and face. It will be more difficult to do so during the first 24 hours after surgery.

• It is important to remove all makeup carefully the day before the procedure.

• Please arrange for someone to accompany you on the day of surgery, as you will not be able to drive afterward.

• Wear clean, comfortable clothing. Avoid clothing that may constrict the blood vessels in your neck or arms.

• Do not apply any makeup, powder, foundation, cream, or lotion to your face.

• If you are scheduled for laser surgery, do not wear any perfume, as the vapours may affect the performance of the laser beam.

• You may eat, drink, and take your usual medications on the day of your surgery.

• Avoid beverages that may increase eye dryness, such as alcohol and caffeine.

It is recommended that you review the consent form a few days before the procedure. It is important to note any questions or concerns that may remain after reading it so you can discuss them with the ophthalmologist before the procedure.
